It's been 5 years since Leeland released their first album Sound Of Melodies. Michael W. remarked at the time that he couldn't get their music out of his head as he wore out the CD in his car. Two albums and a son-in-law later (Jack Mooring married Michael's daughter Whitney) Leeland has released their 4th studio project The Great Awakening.
True to form, each track is born from a sincere heart for worship and the record is a wonderfully creative musical journey. Leeland and Jack's knack for soaring melodies and lyrics, the tight 3 part harmonies (aided by the addition to the band of younger sister Shelly) and the masterful producing capabilities of Paul Moak (Matt Maher, Third Day) all add up to a "must hear" experience. The Great Awakening seeks to encourage and challenge the body of Christ to "shake yourself from the dust" (lyric from track 10 - While We Sing) and get outside the walls of the church to spread God's love and good news.
As Jack explains, “It’s the idea of asking God to wake us up; wake up our nation; wake up
the church to receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.”
The Great Awakening is a perfect soundtrack for a nationwide revival of the church...
