Over the years, you may have heard about my vision for Rocketown. A place for teens to go that is not only safe, alcohol and drug free, but a place where they would also WANT to be. In 2003, the vision became reality with the completion of a 40,000 square foot facility in downtown Nashville. Within a year's time an average of 1,350 kids a week are coming through the doors to participate in activities they love - dancing, skating, listening to live music, drinking coffee and hanging out with friends.

Why is this important to me? Many of the problems facing today's young people relate to feelings of being disconnected and rejected. Suicide, gangs, drug and alcohol abuse, crime, and violence are expressions of those feelings. By attracting teenagers through the activities they enjoy, Rocketown is able to facilitate relationships that make a difference - relationships with peers, relationships with mentors and role models, and most importantly a relationship with their Creator.

What does this have to do with you? I think former President George H.W. Bush said it best, when explaining his reason for supporting Rocketown, "The youth of our country only represent a fraction of our population, but they are 100% of our future. I can find nothing more worthy of serious investment of our time and resources than ensuring that the adults of tomorrow grow into healthy and productive citizens."
