Support for Samoan Victims

I am sure you are all aware of the tremendous devastation a recent tsunami caused on the beautiful island of Samoa.  This is of particular interest to me as it deeply affects some very close friends of mine – the Katinas.  The Katinas are from Samoa and still have both immediate and extended family there.  They, of course, also have many, many friends there.  There is no one on this small island that won’t feel the impact of this tragedy.

The Katinas released the following Press Release.  I wanted to share it with you – not just for informational purposes but in a hope that you will consider giving to this cause.  Please consider what God might call you to do and please visit:www.katinamissions.org   All donations made through this site are tax deductible.

I appreciate your consideration and I know the Katinas value your prayers.

Blessings,

MWS

MUSICAL GROUP WITH SOMONAN ROOTS CREATES CHARITABLE FUND FOR TSUNAMI VICTIMS
The Katinas Encourage Music Fans to Help through Donations

OCTOBER 2, 2009 - NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE - In an effort to provide relief to the victims of the devastating tsunami in Samoa, US-based musical group, The Katinas, have created a special emergency charitable fund through the Red Cross to support those affected by this recent tragedy.

With personal ties to Samoa, The Katinas are encouraging anyone who wishes to help the tsunami victims to donate online through their website:www.katinamissions.org, All donations made through this site are tax deductible.

The five Katina brothers - James, John, Jesse, Joe, and Sam - have close family members currently living in Samoa, all of whom survived the recent tragic events. However, the area in which they lived was hit extremely hard.

A career platinum-selling band that just completed a world tour, The Katinas have a large fan base across the globe. Also, they perform the current theme song to the CBS TV series Survivor 19: Samoa. The group hopes their loyal fans will join in to help provide relief to the disaster victims in Samoa.

In addition, to further promote this charitable effort, the Katinas are working closely with Rupert Boneham, one of the most popular contestants in the Survivor Show's history. Boneham was featured on Survivor: Pearl Islands and Survivor: All-Stars. Now a music industry professional, Boneham is a business partner of The Katinas record label, Executive Music Group (EMG).

John Katina says, "We feel a responsibility to act and respond as quickly as possible. We can only do that through people all over the world who want to link arms with us to provide relief for our beloved people of Samoa. We are grateful for all your prayers and support!"

Boneham says, "It is wonderful being able to see the beauty of Samoa every week on Survivor. Its hard to imagine having everything taken away, but with our Samoan band, The Katinas, we have a better understanding of what that really means. "He continued,  "I want to stand behind our guys in helping the local Samoans during this time of need. I have always said, 'Life is good, be you, give back.' Now is our time to give back to those who need it the most."

The Katinas' new single, the aptly titled, "Praying For You," is from the groups latest project, entitled, Live At The Rock San Diego, which was released this summer by Executive Music Group (EMG). The group is also finishing their Christmas album that will be supported by a nationwide tour this winter.

Boneham and members of The Katinas are available for interviews and personal appearances in support of www.katinamissions.org
