What I would like you to know about my step dad Harry Fletcher:
Harry was born in Tacoma, WA and graduated in 1958 from Leavenworth High School. He later joined the Air Force serving in the military for an extended period of time. One of his jobs was firefighting. Harry's favorite memory was when in Morocco he put on his Santa suit and climbed up on the back of a camel to bring Christmas cheer to all!
Harry's love for helping people was seen in his many adventures as a firefighter. He received an award from the Governor of North Carolina for starting a rescue of a small child while being a customer services representative here in Seattle.
Harry took great joy in writing stories about rescues and firefighting. Harry played Santa for Headstart and the fire department for 35 years.
Harry's public services included volunteering as EMT, tax preparer for Goodwill clients. He also worked with the youth in his church, drove a church van, and helped in the kitchen in Wenatchee.
Harry met the love of his life, Joyce in 1987 as she came out of the elevator and he swept her off her feet literally. (or was it the floor waxing machine that brought them together?) They were later married in 1988 in Ellensburg, WA.
His faith in God was a blessing to all who got to know him but especially his to wife Joyce and his stepdaughter Kathleen and stepson Corey.
